There are numerous factors to take into consideration: the location of the college, the degrees offered, the accreditation, admission requirements (GPA, SAT, ACT), and many others. Then see if the college is a public or private school. This makes a huge difference in tuition cost. Decide on a few options.

Go through the application and see what information is needed; review the list of documents needed to complete the application. Then select the school year to file the FAFSA for. and start filling out the form online. Once completed, sign with your PIN.

One week later you can check the status of your FAFSA application online.
You can download the Student Aid Report (SAR), which provides you with your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) – your share of the cost.

As soon as you receive the notification that you have been awarded a scholarship or grant, you know that it is time to apply for financial aid for the following year. Most financial aid covers one school year.
